Pay: £13.00 – £14.00 per hour
Job description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support students within a mainstream school setting. This role involves working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs
- Support small groups of students in and out of the classroom
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs) and behaviour strategies
- Encourage student independence, confidence, and social development
- Support students with a range of needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties)
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures (training desirable)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential
