Job description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to support students within a mainstream school setting. This role involves working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups of pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs
  • Support small groups of students in and out of the classroom
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs) and behaviour strategies
  • Encourage student independence, confidence, and social development
  • Support students with a range of needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties)
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures (training desirable)
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential
