Do you believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive?

At Specialist SEND Group, we are passionate about matching dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants with schools where they can make a genuine difference. We are currently recruiting for a variety of rewarding opportunities supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across mainstream schools, specialist provisions, alternative education settings and 1:1 placements.

No two days are the same, but every day is an opportunity to help a learner grow in confidence, overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.

Your Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting learners both academically and emotionally. Working alongside teachers and other professionals, you will help create an environment where every child feels safe, understood and able to succeed.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
  • Encouraging engagement and participation within lessons.
  • Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities and complex needs.
  • Promoting communication, independence and social development.
  • Using strategies such as visual timetables, sensory resources and positive behaviour support.
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Supporting pupils during breaktimes, educational visits and wider school activities.
  • Providing personal care where required.

We Would Love to Hear From You If You:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, either in education, care or another relevant setting.
  • Are calm, patient and able to build trusting relationships.
  • Have a nurturing approach and genuinely enjoy helping children succeed.
  • Can remain positive and resilient when supporting learners with additional needs.
  • Work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and families.
  • Hold a Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have a willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge.

Essential Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory references covering the last two years.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Why Join Specialist SEND Group?

  • A wide variety of SEND opportunities to suit your skills and experience.
  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Dedicated support from a specialist SEND recruitment consultant.
  • The opportunity to work with schools that value inclusive education and truly put children first.
