Full Job Description

We are looking for a caring, reliable and experienced SEND Personal Assistant to support a young girl with complex additional needs.

This is a rewarding 1:1 role focused on providing safe, consistent and person-centred support while helping the young person enjoy activities, engage with those around her and have the best possible quality of life.

The Role

You will provide individual support based around the young person’s needs, wellbeing and daily routine. Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support.
  • Supporting a young person with complex SEND and medical needs.
  • Assisting with personal care where required.
  • Supporting communication, engagement and interaction.
  • Providing sensory-based activities and meaningful experiences.
  • Following individual care plans, routines and professional guidance.
  • Supporting activities within the home and, where appropriate, the community.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control.
  • Working closely with the family and wider team to provide consistent support.
  • Accurately recording relevant information following sessions.

Hours & Shifts

There are up to 20 hours per week available, with flexibility around shifts.

There will also be opportunities to work additional shifts during school holidays, making this a great role for somebody looking for flexible SEND work alongside other commitments.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND, PMLD or medical needs.
  • Be calm, patient, nurturing and dependable.
  • Be confident providing 1:1 support.
  • Understand the importance of consistency, safeguarding and infection control.
  • Be comfortable supporting personal care where required.
  • Be able to follow medical, care and professional guidance accurately.
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to work closely with the family and wider team.
  • Take the young person’s health and safety extremely seriously.

Experience within SEND, complex care, PMLD, healthcare, residential care or specialist education would be particularly beneficial.

Relevant training and an enhanced DBS will be required.

This is a lovely opportunity for someone who wants to build a consistent relationship with one young person and provide meaningful, individualised support around her needs.
