Full Job Description

SEND International are looking for a experienced Assistant SENCo. The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) Assistant plays a key role in assisting the SENCo lead. Reporting to both them and the Head of Admissions and Pupil Wellbeing, to ensures every pupil reaches their full potential by supporting EHCP objectives, maintaining high standards, and fostering a positive school environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting strategic leadership in SEN provision.
  • Safeguard and promote children’s welfare.
  • Help with the Implementation of SEN policies and procedures.
  • Integrate EHCP objectives into curriculum and monitor progress.
  • Be part of chairing meetings and reviews for pupils, ensuring effective outcomes.
  • Support staff in understanding and implementing SEN strategies.
  • Manage resources effectively and address issues as they arise.
  • Produce reports on SEN pupil needs and school performance.
  • Facilitate accommodations for national examinations.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Line manage the SEND team.
  • Collaborate with wellbeing and family liaison leads.
  • Contribute to school reviews and development plans.
  • Provide reports to SLT on SEND provision.
  • Identify pupils at risk of NEET status.
  • Update relevant SEND policies.
  • Participate in performance management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Degree qualification and Qualified Teacher Status.
  • SENCO Qualification or working towards.
  • Extensive SEN experience and some managerial experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to pupil outcomes, confidentiality, and equality.
  • Passion for teaching and learning and resilience in the face of challenges.
