Specialist Learning Disability Specialist – Dyslexia Screening – Relocation to Doha

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Specialist Learning Disability Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide counseling, guidance, and interventions to individuals with dyslexia, collaborate with educators and professionals, and contribute to the development and implementation of effective educational plans for students aged 4 to 21.

Responsibilities:

  1. Counseling and Guidance:
    • Provide counseling and guidance to individuals with dyslexia, their families, and educators.
    • Collaborate with teachers, educational institutions, and relevant professionals to ensure optimal outcomes for individuals with dyslexia.
  2. Professional Development:
    • Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in the field of dyslexia and related disorders.
    • Provide training and workshops for educators and professionals on dyslexia, delivering effective strategies for support.
  3. Educational Planning and Assessment:
    • Assess students’ skills, strengths, and weaknesses to develop and implement educational plans.
    • Assist in the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) and track student progress.
  4. Intervention and Support:
    • Provide evidence-based instruction and interventions for dyslexia and learning disabilities.
    • Use various reading intervention programs to support and promote reading skills.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with parents and other professionals to advocate for students and ensure their success.
    • Collaborate with adult learners, analyze student assessment data, and implement necessary accommodations and modifications.
  6. Record Keeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
    • Develop structured approaches for specific reading/writing and other LD interventions.
  7. Other Responsibilities:
    • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons in accordance with Pre University Education (PUE) and regulatory safeguarding requirements.
    • Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field, with 6-8 years of relevant full-time work experience, including 2 years at a supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in dyslexia and learning disability assessment and intervention.
  • Additional certification and licenses in the LD field are preferred.
  • Ability to deliver evidence-based instruction is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational, report formulation, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (Arabic proficiency is an advantage).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with adult learners and analyze student assessment data.
