Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference?

Specialist Send Group is looking for a compassionate, patient, and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support an 18-year-old learner with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) within their home as part of an Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) package.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside a Qualified Teacher, helping to deliver meaningful, personalised education in a calm and nurturing one-to-one environment. Every session is tailored to the learner’s individual needs, interests, and communication style, ensuring they can access learning in a way that works for them.

The learner communicates using Eye Gaze technology, so previous experience supporting individuals who use Eye Gaze is essential for this role.

The Role

Working closely with the Teacher, you will:

  • Support the learner throughout their personalised educational sessions.
  • Encourage engagement, communication, and participation using Eye Gaze technology.
  • Assist the Teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and adapting resources where required.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the learner to promote confidence and independence.
  • Support the learner’s communication, emotional wellbeing, and day-to-day needs during sessions.
  • Use a calm, patient, and nurturing approach to encourage interaction and engagement.
  • Record observations and provide feedback to the Teacher to support ongoing progress.
  • Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment within the home.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with learners with PMLD.
  • Essential experience using Eye Gaze communication technology.
  • Experience supporting learners with complex communication needs.
  • A caring, patient, and nurturing approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a small professional team.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and person-centred support.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • The right to work in the UK.

Why Join Specialist Send Group?

At Specialist Send Group, we believe every learner deserves access to high-quality education, regardless of their circumstances. We pride ourselves on providing personalised, learner-centred support that enables young people with additional needs to achieve their potential.

You’ll become part of a supportive team that values collaboration, professional development, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of learners and their families.

If you’re passionate about supporting young people with complex needs and have experience using Eye Gaze technology, we’d love to hear from you.
