Hours: 25 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
Suggested Timings: 9:00am–2:00pm or 8:30am–1:30pm (flexible)
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Teacher/Home Tutor to provide bespoke educational support for a Year 9 learner with a brain injury. The learner is currently working significantly below age-related expectations and requires a highly personalised approach to learning, delivered within the home environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified teacher who has experience supporting learners with acquired or traumatic brain injuries and can adapt teaching strategies to meet complex cognitive, communication, and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored, engaging, and differentiated lessons within the home setting.
  • Provide approximately 5 hours of tuition per day, Monday to Friday.
  • Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes across core subjects, including:
  • English
  • Maths
  • Physical Education (desirable)
  • Assess progress and adapt teaching approaches to meet the learner’s changing needs.
  • Develop positive relationships with the learner and family to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Promote confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of learning and progress.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Experience supporting learners with acquired brain injuries, traumatic brain injuries, or similar neurological conditions.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning approaches.
  • Ability to teach both Maths and English.
  • Excellent communication, patience, and adaptability.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience delivering Physical Education or promoting physical development activities.
  • Experience teaching learners working significantly below age-related expectations.
  • Knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation strategies and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience working in alternative provision, home tuition, or specialist SEND settings.
