Job Title: Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA)

Location: Runcorn, Mainstream School

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEND TA) to join our inclusive and supportive mainstream school located in Runcorn. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing individualized support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalized Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, tailoring assistance to their individual requirements.
  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Personal Care: Be comfortable and willing to assist with personal care needs, ensuring the well-being and dignity of students with specific requirements.
  • Behavioral Support: Assist in managing and addressing challenging behaviors, implementing strategies outlined in behavior plans, and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the care and education of students with special needs.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of student progress, achievements, and any incidents, contributing to the overall assessment and evaluation process.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in special education and attend relevant training to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is desirable.
  • DBS Check: A current Enhanced DBS check is mandatory, and it must be registered on the update service.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are advantageous but not essential.
  • Empathy and Patience: Demonstrate a compassionate and patient approach, understanding the unique needs of each student.
  • Team Player: Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
