Job description:

We are seeking a compassionate, committed, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support a learner with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) within their home learning environment.

This rewarding role involves working closely with both the learner and the teacher to help achieve the learner’s educational, social, emotional, and communication goals. You will play a vital role in ensuring the learner can access meaningful learning opportunities while promoting independence, engagement, wellbeing, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the learner during educational sessions within the home environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the teacher to deliver personalised learning activities.
  • Assist in implementing strategies that support the learner’s educational, social, emotional, and communication development.
  • Encourage engagement, participation, and independence wherever possible.
  • Support the use of communication systems, including AAC/ACC devices.
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the learner and their family.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on progress and engagement during sessions.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience using or supporting learners with AAC/ACC communication devices.
  • A caring, patient, and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to making a positive difference in a learner’s life.

Desirable

  • Relevant SEND qualifications or training.
  • Experience working within home-based education or specialist educational settings.
  • Knowledge of person-centred approaches and communication strategies.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about supporting learners with complex needs—someone who is committed, caring, and motivated to make a meaningful and lasting difference. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding relationship with a learner and contribute significantly to their educational journey and overall wellbeing.

If you have the experience, dedication, and enthusiasm to support this learner in reaching their full potential, we would love to hear from you.
