Do you believe that everyone deserves meaningful connections, opportunities to pursue their interests, and the confidence to become as independent as possible?

We are looking for a Community Mentor/ Role Model to support a young person in building confidence, developing independence, and creating meaningful connections within their local community.

This is a unique and highly rewarding role where you’ll become a trusted mentor, encouraging the young person to explore their interests, access community activities, and develop social skills in a relaxed, person-centred way.

About the Young Person

This young person has a genuine passion for:

• Music production and synthesisers
• Vinyl records
• Antiques and vintage shops
• Cycling and bike rides
• Creating and exploring music

Your role will centre around these interests, using them as a way to build confidence, encourage independence, and help the young person develop friendships and become an active member of their community.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supporting the young person to access community activities and events.
• Visiting record shops, music venues, antique centres, museums and local attractions.
• Encouraging participation in clubs, groups or activities linked to their interests.
• Going on bike rides and other enjoyable community outings.
• Supporting them to create music, develop hobbies, and explore new interests.
• Helping them develop social skills and form positive friendships.
• Promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience, and independence.
• Building a trusting, consistent, and positive relationship.
• Supporting the young person to navigate social situations and feel confident within their local community.
• Recognising when emotional regulation strategies may be required and providing calm, consistent support.

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

• Friendly, approachable, and naturally able to build positive relationships.
• Confident supporting young people within the community.
• Patient, calm, and encouraging.
• Passionate about helping young people become more independent.
• Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), behaviour as communication, and emotional regulation.
• Reliable, flexible, and proactive.
• Comfortable working independently whilst following agreed support plans.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have:

• A shared interest in music production, synthesisers, vinyl records, antiques, cycling, or other creative hobbies.
• Experience supporting young people with SEND, autism, SEMH, or additional needs.
• Experience within mentoring, youth work, education, support work, care, or community outreach.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Essential Requirements

• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
