Full Job Description

About Us:
We are a vibrant and nurturing SEND school dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children and young people with a range of complex needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, and SEMH.

We pride ourselves on our personalised, child-centred approach and are passionate about helping every learner thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role:
We are seeking a patient, passionate, and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. You will be supporting learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs and abilities. This is a highly rewarding role where no two days are the same, and where your support can make a lasting difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent and individualised support for pupils with complex needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing needs, and SEMH
  • Support pupils in the classroom, during therapy sessions, and throughout the school day
  • Implement EHCP targets and individual learning plans under the guidance of teaching staff and the SENDCo
  • Assist with communication, emotional regulation, and personal care when needed
  • Help create a calm, inclusive and engaging environment where learners feel valued and respected
  • Use communication tools such as PECs, Makaton, visual schedules, and sensory strategies (training will be provided)
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families to promote consistency and trust

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working in a SEND or specialist provision (desirable but not essential)
  • A calm, caring, and patient nature, with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • An understanding of autism, communication differences, sensory needs, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to remain positive, proactive, and adaptable in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, Manual Handling) are desirable but training can be provided

What We Offer:

  • A welcoming and supportive staff team
  • Ongoing CPD, training, and progression opportunities
  • A positive and purposeful school culture that puts students at the heart of everything we do
  • A chance to be part of a school that truly values your work and the impact you make
