Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking Senior Residential Child Care Workers who are passionate about transforming the lives of young people. Working within our residential homes in Sale and Partington, you will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable environment for children and young people with complex needs, including those with a history of trauma, neglect, or challenging behaviours.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff while ensuring the highest standards of care are consistently delivered. You will embody a relational approach, focusing on building trust, respect, and meaningful connections with young people—helping them heal, grow, and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership and mentoring to Residential Child Care Officers and other staff.
- Support the development and implementation of personalised care and support plans in line with statutory requirements.
- Promote a positive, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where young people feel valued and safe.
- Model best practice in building relationships with young people, using empathy, consistency, and professional boundaries.
- Support young people in developing life skills, education, and emotional resilience.
- Contribute to staff development through supervision, training, and reflective practice.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding protocols, and all relevant legislation.
- Participate in the on-call rota and ensure smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience working within a residential childcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours or have experienced trauma.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm, reflective, and resilient in high-pressure situations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- Training in therapeutic approaches, trauma-informed practice, or de-escalation techniques.
- Experience liaising with external agencies and professionals (social workers, CAMHS, education providers, etc.).
