We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a young boy in Year 3 with a diagnosis of Autism. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in the life of a child with additional needs in the Salford area.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will support the pupil throughout the school day, helping him to access learning, manage transitions, and regulate his emotions. He can become extremely dysregulated at times, so we are looking for someone calm, consistent, and confident in setting and maintaining firm boundaries while providing nurturing support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to implement strategies tailored to the pupil’s individual needs
- Support the student in lessons, during transitions, and throughout the school environment
- Use a calm, structured approach to de-escalate challenging behaviour and support emotional regulation
- Foster a safe, positive learning environment with clear expectations and routines
- Help develop and implement behaviour support and communication plans
- Provide consistent 1:1 support that balances structure with empathy
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with Autism, ideally in a primary school setting
- Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and a calm, patient approach
- Ability to set clear, firm boundaries while remaining supportive and compassionate
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, Autism awareness) is desirable but not essential
- A commitment to promoting inclusion and enabling the child to reach his full potential
Why Join Us?
- Supportive staff team and leadership
- Ongoing CPD opportunities
- A chance to make a lasting impact on a child’s education and development
If you are passionate, resilient, and ready to support a young learner who needs structure and compassion, we’d love to hear from you.
