Specialist SEND Group (SSG) is recruiting on behalf of an alternative provision organisation to appoint an experienced and qualified Regional Head to provide strategic leadership and professional management in the south Yorkshire campus.

Key responsibilities
Upholding and shaping our future
- Work towards and uphold the Headteacher Standards (2020).
- Develop and embed a clear vision of excellence across centres within the region.
- Oversee and continually raise standards across SEND, Education, Administration and Risk, including Safeguarding and Health & Safety.
- Provide inspirational leadership, motivating and empowering staff and young people.
- Make difficult decisions, hold challenging conversations, and follow through on actions agreed.
- Lead effective strategy formation and implementation across collaboration, documentation, consultation and delivery.
Personal, professional and community development
- Invest in your own wellbeing and professional development and support senior teams to do the same.
- Build psychologically safe, high-trust cultures with clear purpose and expectations.
- Develop individuals and teams to achieve personal and professional objectives.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships locally, regionally and nationally.
- Provide strong leadership as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, making effective decisions at different levels.
- Lead strategically on Health & Safety and SEND, including statutory duties and multi-agency working.
- Use internal and external data to inform decisions and drive improvement.
Sustaining accountability
- Communicate consistent organisational messages so staff understand expectations and can seek clarity.
- Lead/support audits in safeguarding, H&S, SEN and education and fully action recommendations.
- Present clear performance accounts to stakeholders at local, regional and national levels.
- Establish clear policies and implement procedures to monitor and evaluate impact.
The ideal candidate will have
Qualifications (essential unless stated):
- Degree (or equivalent) and relevant professional leadership qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status
- NASENCO (or willingness to complete immediately upon appointment)
- iOSH management/leadership qualification (or willingness to complete immediately upon appointment)
Experience/knowledge:
- At least 5 years’ substantial senior leadership experience, including leading teams supporting young people/communities
- Strong multi-agency working and experience contributing to staff development across secondary ages
- Safeguarding leadership experience, including DSL-level knowledge/training
- Extensive experience/training in CPOMS
Skills and attributes:
- Sets high expectations and motivates others to achieve excellent outcomes
- Strong knowledge of SEND policies and practice
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Calm, resilient, organised, and able to manage conflict professionally
