We are seeking an exceptional and experienced Head Teacher to lead our thriving mainstream independent school. About the Role
As Head Teacher, you will provide strategic, operational, and educational leadership, ensuring the highest standards of academic achievement, pastoral care, and personal development for all pupils. You will champion an inclusive ethos, uphold the school’s values, and drive continuous improvement across all areas of school life.
Working closely with Governors/Proprietors and the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape and deliver the school’s long-term vision while maintaining a strong focus on daily excellence in teaching, learning, and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, strategic leadership and direction for the school.
- Lead on school improvement planning, self-evaluation, and inspection readiness.
- Ensure outstanding standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across all key stages.
- Foster a positive, inclusive culture that supports both staff and pupils to thrive.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Senior Leadership Team.
- Oversee safeguarding, compliance, and regulatory requirements in line with independent school standards.
- Build strong relationships with parents, external partners, and the wider community.
- Ensure sound financial management and sustainable growth.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Significant senior leadership experience (Deputy Head, Head of School, or Head Teacher level).
- A demonstrable track record of raising standards and delivering measurable whole-school improvement.
- Experience within a mainstream setting, ideally across both Primary and Secondary phases.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, assessment frameworks, and regulatory compliance (including ISI/Ofsted standards as applicable).
- Proven ability to lead and manage staff performance effectively.
- Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
- A commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.
