About the Role
We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEND Nursery Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a young learner with additional needs within our nursery setting. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early years inclusion and committed to helping children thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.
You will work closely with the class team, SENCo, and parents/carers to support the child’s learning, emotional regulation, communication, and personal development throughout the nursery day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
- Support learning through play-based and child-led activities
- Assist with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs or support plans (where applicable)
- Encourage independence while ensuring the child feels safe and supported
- Observe, record, and report progress and concerns accurately
- Support personal care needs where required
- Work collaboratively with staff, therapists, and parents/carers
- Follow all safeguarding and nursery policies
Essential Requirements
- A kind, calm, and patient nature
- Experience working with children in Early Years, ideally with SEND
- Relevant qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or SEND
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience working 1:1 with a child with additional needs
- Knowledge of visual supports, sensory strategies, or Makaton
- Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)
Pay: £106.05 – £117.90 per day
