Physical Education Teacher & Head of Department

SEND International is seeking a dynamic and experienced Physical Education Teacher who will also take on the role of Head of Department. This dual role requires someone who is not only passionate about promoting physical health and well-being but also skilled in leading a team, shaping curriculum, and driving whole-school sports initiatives.

As a key member of our faculty, you will be instrumental in developing a high-quality PE program that promotes skill development, teamwork, inclusivity, and a lifelong love of physical activity. As Head of Department, you will also provide visionary leadership to elevate the department’s impact across the school.


Key Responsibilities

As PE Teacher:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate PE lessons for students across a range of abilities.

  • Encourage student participation in a wide variety of sports and physical activities.

  • Foster an environment of respect, effort, and sportsmanship.

  • Promote health and well-being through cross-curricular and co-curricular opportunities.

As Head of Department:

  • Lead and manage the PE department, overseeing curriculum development, resource planning, and departmental growth.

  • Mentor and support colleagues within the department to ensure consistency, innovation, and excellence in teaching practices.

  • Coordinate school-wide sporting events, extracurricular sports programs, and inter-school competitions.

  • Champion a culture of health and well-being across the entire school community.

  • Represent the department in leadership meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of international IB experience teaching Physical Education.

  • Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a Head of Department role.

  • Strong understanding of international curricula such as the IB or American curriculum.

  • Ability to design differentiated lessons that support varied learner needs and promote confidence in physical activity.

  • Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal.

  • A collaborative and solution-focused mindset, with the ability to work well within diverse teams.
