We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a 14-year-old learner with complex needs.
About the Student
The learner is a vibrant and busy young lady who requires tailored support to thrive in her daily routine. She has a range of needs including:
- Significant sensory needs with delayed sensory processing
- Hearing and visual impairments
- Tube-fed
- Non-verbal, currently using PECS and transitioning to an AAC device
- Compromised immune system (staff must wear face masks)
She enjoys a busy schedule, taking part in music therapy, speech and language sessions, swimming, horse riding, and working with her visual and hearing therapists.
The Role
As her Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support, ensuring her safety, comfort, and engagement
- Use communication aids (PECS/AAC) to support interaction
- Work alongside therapists and specialist staff to implement tailored strategies
- Support her in accessing sensory activities and therapies
- Follow medical and care protocols, including tube feeding
- Create a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports her learning and wellbeing
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Patient, caring, and adaptable
- Confident in working with children with complex needs
- Experienced in using (or open to learning) PECS and AAC devices
- Able to follow therapeutic and medical guidance
- A strong communicator and effective team player
