Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive team in the Wigan area. This is a full-time role, requiring availability 5 days a week. Consistency and commitment are essential for this position to provide the best support to students with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEND, helping them achieve their individual learning goals.
- Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment tailored to the needs of each student.
- Support students with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and strategies in line with school policies and procedures.
- Encourage positive social interaction and behaviour management.
- Work closely with the SENDCO, class teachers, and parents to monitor student progress and provide feedback.
- Support students both in the classroom and during other school activities such as lunch and outdoor play.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have proven experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting.
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Be patient, empathetic, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Have a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing consistent, high-quality support to the students in your care.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications in SEND or experience working with children with special educational needs.
- A DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is essential.
- Excellent references demonstrating reliability and experience in a similar role.
