Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Humanities Teacher to join our committed and enthusiastic team. Our school is devoted to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Humanities lessons tailored to the needs of students with ASD and ADHD.
- Develop and adapt learning materials to meet the diverse needs of our students, ensuring all content is accessible and engaging.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
- Track and assess student progress, using data to inform and adapt teaching methods and strategies.
- Work closely with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support the academic and personal development of students.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to reports and meetings as necessary.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably within a SEND setting.
- Proven experience working with students with ASD and ADHD.
- Strong understanding and experience in managing challenging behaviour.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with a focus on creating and delivering tailored lesson plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Desirable Skills:
- Additional qualifications or training in SEND education.
- Familiarity with various assistive technologies and teaching aids.
- Experience in implementing sensory and de-escalation techniques.
