About Us:
We are a thriving mainstream high school dedicated to delivering exceptional education to a diverse student body, including a significant number of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEND Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of SEND provision within the school. This includes leading and supporting a team of TAs and HLTAs, working closely with parents, and ensuring that our curriculum is accessible and effective for all students with SEND.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and support a team of Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs).
  • Develop and implement effective SEND policies and practices across the school.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adjust and differentiate the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of SEND students.
  • Conduct regular reviews of students’ progress, setting and monitoring targets to ensure all students make significant gains.
  • Liaise with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, specialists, and local authorities to ensure comprehensive support for SEND students.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff on SEND-related topics and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to SEND provision.
  • Maintain accurate records of SEND students, including IEPs, EHCPs, and other relevant documentation.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive school culture that values diversity and the contributions of all students.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience working with SEND students in a school setting.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and support staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with SEND research and practices.
