Title: Special Education Teacher (PMLD Focus) – Further Education
The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to lead our Further Education (FE) Study Programmed, focusing on students aged 19-25 with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the individual needs of our students at the pre-entry to entry level 1 stage. This includes students with sensory impairments, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and complex communication needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with PMLD, ASC, sensory impairments, and complex communication needs.
- Plan, deliver, and assess individualized learning activities, taking into account students’ unique learning styles and abilities.
- Work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff to ensure that the learning environment is inclusive and supportive.
- Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills in working with students with complex needs.
- Foster positive relationships with students, their families, and external agencies to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to their education and support.
- Utilize a range of teaching strategies, resources, and assistive technologies to facilitate student learning and engagement.
- Ensure that the learning environment is safe, accessible, and conducive to the needs of students with PMLD, ASC, sensory impairments, and complex communication needs.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and achievements, and participate in regular reviews and evaluations to inform instructional practices and support plans.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research, trends, and best practices in the field of special education, and apply this knowledge to enhance teaching and learning.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.

Salary: £150.00-£200.00 per day
