SEND Teacher – MAT cover – Flixton, Greater Manchester
Are you a compassionate, dedicated, and creative SEND teacher looking to make a meaningful difference? We are seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join our specialist team from January 2025, providing maternity cover for a Key Stage 2 class of 10 pupils with a range of complex needs.
About the Class
You will lead a warm and nurturing KS2 class of pupils who:
- Have social communication difficulties
- Present with complex sensory needs
- Have complex behaviour needs
- Are working below a 2-year developmental level
- Are mostly pre-verbal, communicating through non-verbal or emerging communication methods
This is a highly rewarding role where you will play a vital part in helping each pupil progress emotionally, socially, and academically at their own pace.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a teacher who:
- Has experience working with pupils with ASD, SLD, PMLD, or SEMH
- Is skilled in child-led, holistic, and play-based approaches
- Understands sensory regulation and trauma-informed practice
- Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and a multi-disciplinary team
- Is confident in planning and delivering highly differentiated, engaging learning experiences
- Uses communication aids such as visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, or other AAC systems (experience preferred, not essential)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a class team to deliver personalised learning that supports individual EHCP outcomes
- Create a safe, calm, and structured environment tailored to pupils with high sensory and communication needs
- Use creative, multi-sensory approaches to support engagement and learning
- Implement behaviour support plans with a calm, consistent approach
- Work closely with therapists, support staff, and families for holistic provision
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews and planning meetings
