Full Job Description

Are you a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We are currently seeking a motivated SEND Teaching Assistant for a warm and welcoming day school for 45 students aged 7 to 19 who experience a range of needs, including autism spectrum conditions, associated behaviors, moderate learning difficulties, or specific learning difficulties.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEND, assisting in their academic and personal development.
  • Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement and adapt lesson plans to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Support students in developing their communication and social skills.
  • Utilise your experience in working with young people with autism spectrum conditions and associated behaviors, moderate learning difficulties, or specific learning difficulties.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with young people experiencing autism spectrum conditions, associated behaviors, moderate learning difficulties, or specific learning difficulties.
  • An understanding of various learning needs and the ability to adapt support strategies accordingly.
  • Previous support work experience also considered
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, other support staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to the inclusive and welcoming ethos
