SEND Teaching Assistant
Pay: £90.00-£105.00 per day
Overview
We are seeking a caring and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a learner with Down syndrome within a school setting. The role involves providing consistent, personalised support to help the learner access education, support learning, and build confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a learner with Down syndrome
- Support learning across the curriculum under the guidance of teaching staff
- Use adapted and multi-sensory approaches to meet individual needs
- Support communication, engagement, and independence
- Create a calm, positive, and structured learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and other professionals
- Support the learner’s social and emotional development
Essential Requirements
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working with learners with Down syndrome
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Patient, flexible, and nurturing approach
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Desirable
- Experience working in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of inclusive and SEND support strategies
- Understanding of EHCPs and individual support plans
