We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a learner with complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational, social, and emotional development.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored, child-centred support to meet the learner’s educational, emotional, sensory, and physical needs
- Support the implementation of the learner’s EHCP, working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Promote engagement, independence, and emotional regulation using appropriate strategies and communication methods
- Assist with personal care and mobility, where required
- Monitor progress and contribute to observations, reviews, and reports
- Work collaboratively with parents, external professionals, and multi-agency teams
- Ensure the learner feels safe, supported, and included within the school environment
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND and complex needs (including ASD, SEMH, physical or medical needs)
- Understands that behaviour is a form of communication
- Is calm, patient, resilient, and adaptable
- Has strong communication and observational skills
- Can follow care plans, behaviour support plans, and risk assessments confidently
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Holds relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential)
