About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive school community. This is a full-time position, working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the primary phase.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils with EHCPs and contribute to reviewing targets and progress.
- Assist with behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation support.
- Promote inclusion, independence, and positive self-esteem.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and stimulating learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3 TA).
- Experience working with primary-aged children with SEND.
- Knowledge of a range of SEND needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive attitude.
- The ability to build supportive relationships with pupils and staff.
